GSM Phones
Outside
of North America, and a handful of countries, the world operates on a
unified standard call GSM (Global Services for Mobile), and this is why a
cell phone for London will also work in Paris, Johannesburg, Beijing and
Sydney. This GSM standard requires a cell phone and for service with a local
carrier, a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card.

Why Do People Buy Prepaid calling cards?
Many people use a prepaid phone card because of the card’s convenience - it can
be used anywhere and, since you pay in advance, there is no bill. Prepaid
calling cards are popular among travelers, students, people who frequently call
overseas, and those who haven’t selected a long-distance service. In addition,
pre-paid calling cards are sold in convenient places, such as newsstands, post
offices, on the Internet and in stores.
One way to avoid
telephone bill "sticker shock" is to use prepaid calling cards. Most
Exchanges offer prepaid cards in varying amounts. As with other products,
compare costs. Just because it is sold in the Exchange does not mean that it
provides the best rate.
Because these calling cards are
prepaid, you do NOT have to worry about costly long distance phone bills or over
spending on long distance charges. With a prepaid phone card, you pay in advance
so you can spend as little or as much as you can afford.

The Comoros leader has decreed the
implementation of the country's much awaited telecom reform by splitting up
the National Postal and Telecommunications Company (SNPT). Leaving postal
services behind, the telecom sector of Comoros - renamed Comtel - now will
search foreign investors. Comtel is however left with a political
leadership.
Colonel Assoumani Azali, the President of Comoros, has issued a decree
splitting government-owned SNPT. From now on, the new company Comtel will be
Comoros' new telecom company, while the new provider of postal services in
Comoros will be SNPC. While the split is being conducted, military commander
Djamalidine Moissuli will administrate the two companies.
